The Lords Prayer in Old English

Fæder ure þu þe eart on heofonum,
Si þin nama gehalgod. to becume þin rice,
gewurþe ðin willa, on eorðan swa swa on heofonum.
urne gedæghwamlican hlaf syle us todæg, and forgyf us ure gyltas, swa swa we forgyfað urum gyltendum.
and ne gelæd þu us on costnunge, ac alys us of yfele.
soþlice.

  1. The music on the video was a bit intrusive and overpowering. Personally I think they should have simply said the words without any accompaniment.

  2. Ooh! I thought this was the most fascinating thing when I first heard it in eighth grade English. I still drive my sister crazy by saying "Swah-swah oon hay-OWE-foonum!" randomly on occasion.
